I lived in Perryton from 1965-72 and have great memories.  It was great to live in a small town where a little girl could walk around by herself.  I remember my younger sister and I waved goodbye to our parents as we ran down the road to go trick or treating.  All alone in the dark, blocks away from home and even went in to the homes of the candy givers.  Unheard of these days.  I remember we walked to the store that was behind the park on Main St for tree lights, again by ourselves.  In the same park at christmas time I remember a live nativity scene, really cool to a kid of 8.  I have great memories of the town pool, 25 cents for an all day swim.  The water tower I was so afraid to sit near behind the elementary school.  Great memories.  I wish my own children could have the same freedom I did growning up in a small town.  We live in Syracuse, far from a small town.
God Bless Perryton

Like a lot of people who have posted here, I get nostalgic about life in Perryton.  What I get nostalgic about is usually the same things everyone else has gotten nostalgic about, since there wasn't anything else to do but those few things, ha ha ha!  My husband (James) and I like to come back to visit remaining family and friends from time to time, but love living near Tulsa, as we have since leaving Perryton in 1982, and will probably never come back to Perryton to live.

I came across this site by accident. I graduated from PHS in 87. Became a Dallas Cop after attending UTA. My wife Christi Freeman is a basketball coach at Coppell ISD. We are living a fantastic life in Valley Ranch. Our children are awesome and we go to Perryton every Christmas. Perryton was a great place to grow up. Unlocked doors and cars. Riding bikes around town and the local swimming pool. Great churches. Great teachers and coaches and high standards of conduct you don't see here in Dallas.

The Perryton High School Class of 1956 is seeking contact information for one of our classmates, with whom we have lost contact.  We would like to have contact information for Bernita Williams Millberger.  She may live in the Denver, CO area. As I recall, Bernita had a younger sister named either Claudina or Christina.  If you have information to share, please contact me at the above e-mail address.

Thanks.

If you go down to a place called Hargues Corner, tell my little brother Jerry hello, and my Aunt Dixie, and tell Ricky and Danny to get to work.

I enjoyed reading comments from residents and former residents of Perryton. I was born in the old Sanford Hospital and went to school in Perryton. Perryton is a very special place to most people and yes it has its clicks, but so does every place else. I have not been back to Perryton for several years but plan to be there this Sept. 15 to visit with my mom and see how much or how little Perryton has changed. I wish I could have been in Perryton for our 40th class reunion. Good luck to the Ranger Teams and to the Town that my Grandparents loved so much (Bill Lance and Aleene Lance)

Hello Perryton, I went to Perryton High 1959-1960 with
my Aunt Janie Hartson.  She was able to attend the reunion
about 5 or 6 years ago.  I had hoped to go with her, but was not able to.  My biggest regret.  Janie had been battling cancer for almost 10 years, she was very brave
and fought hard with such grace. So sorry to say she
passed away sveral years ago. She was a sweet, wonderful
and very smart lady.  I miss her as does the rest of the
family. Again, so glad she had the chance to see some of
her old classmates, she had such a great time.

Lived in Perryton most of my life, left in '72, haven't been back since 1982.  Can't say I miss it, but something always draws me.  It seemed to be rather an unfriendly place unless you were among the elite clique, which I certainly was not.  Perhaps that has changed, but likely not.  Now I work in the Big City, live in the 'burbs.  Wouldn't want to go back to Perryton to live, but probably will go back someday just to see what's left that I remember.  I have no one there anymore, family left many years ago, but it might be good to go back, just to clear my mind.

I was born in Perryton in 1953, but my parents moved to Oregon shortly there after. I've been here ever since. If not for the great depression I would probably be in Texas today. My great grandparents (Jasper Wheelock) owned a bit of ground there and when everything went under during that time, so did they.
Its nice to see a site for a place I have always felt a connection to.

I lived in Perryton from 82 to 87 then moved east to the nothingness of Higgins, TX. Although I enjoyed my time in Higgins with the new friends I made, nothing could ever compare to my time in Perryton with all of my friends there. The Dixie Dog was the bomb place to be. I never got to go to high school and be a Ranger, but in my heart I will forever be one. Thanks Perryton, for all the memories of growing up in a small town. I now live in Denton, TX just north of Dallas and if I could I would rather be in Perryton getting ready to go to the big game on Friday night. Great site by the way and keep up the good work.
