Hi folks

I just wanted to let anyone, that was interested, that I had changed my e-mail address.
My wife and I still live in Phoenix, Arizona and still
have reasons to get out of bed in the morning. The weather
is great and if we want to see snow, we buy a postcard. If
Grace Payne is still there, tell her I said hi.

Our family lived in Perryton during the late 50's. Parents-- Ken and Nancy Brooks, worked for Baker Oil Tools. I have the greatest memories while living there-- our house was on Elm Street across from Sam and Fred Turner's grandfather. If anyone knows them, would appreciate passing this message on to them-- nobody has friends as good as they were. Just wish I could remember my girlfriend's name! Oh well....

Take care Perryton, a town of true hospitality!   DSB

My mother, Billye Turner, along with nine siblings, was raised in Perryton.  She left us at the young age of 77, but she left me with one thing from Perryton.  All my life played with a set of glass bears that held the family's bills, and sat next to the telephone on our kitchen counter.  When my mother was quite ill from lung cancer she told me she wanted me to have the bears.  I asked her where she got them, and she told me she had bought them with her first paycheck (at age sixteen--1940?), from the little soda fountain inside the drugstore.  Today I asked my Aunt Pearl, my mother's sister, if she remembered the name of the little drugstore, and she said it was called Sanford's.  I'd love to have a photo of it if there is one available.  Any information anyone might have about Sanford Drugstore, circa 1940, would be wonderful.

I went all through school in Perryton, I thought it was the greatest town on earth. It was a good time to be a kid, a good time to be alive, and a great place to be. I've been gone a long time, but I've always carried those memories with me. I'll make it back some day and renew old friendships.  Once a Ranger, always a Ranger.

Wow,

Thank you all for voting overwhelmingly for the McCain/Palin ticket! Looking at the election results you voted 92% for us, that is the highest percentage in the nation! (I hope you all, are going to round up that other 8% before the next election. ;)

You should be proud! You are a shining example of the real, patriotic America that I want to live in. Don't believe anything you read about you being the "Most Racist County in America" that is just the liberal elite media, banging their drum.

Good luck and God bless you,

Sarah

In 1986, I met a couple from Perryton (JW and Dori Jines) as they were on the Texas Sesquincenntenial Wagon Train) and it was my good fortune to interview JW and ride with him a short distance as he and his mule team went up from Salt Flats into the Guadalupe Pass area. I hope to put some of my clips on YouTube showing Mr. Jines (if I can get the old videotape to play) so please check my YouTube account "TUUTUUTANGO" for the video in the next few weeks.

JW was an interesting character and I very much admired his spirit and tenacity for making that trip. He really epitomizes the character of those folks who made their way to Texas in wagons, many -- many years ago.

I spent several decades working in television and lived briefly in the Soviet Union working in television news. Please stay tuned for my wagon train video on YouTube.

Never been to Perryton, but been darned close.

Born in this city September 02, 1938.  My father worked for the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad.  I remember riding on a "Doodle Bug"  a one rail passenger/engine railroad unit between Perryton and Shattuck & Woodward.  We moved to Canadian when I was very young.  I started elementary at Canadian when the Santa Fe transferred my dad(due to his health) to Flagstaff, Az in 1945.  We witnessed terrible tornadoes while in Canadian.  We were never struck by one while there but we could clearly see many of them, dark and light funnels from the sky on the horizon close and far.  Higgins, Texas must have been hit very hard since U.S. Soldiers were brought in and guards were everywhere.  I do have very pleasant but young memories of Perryton.  Would love to visit Perryton now that I'm retired.

Hello to all in Perryton. I went to high school there (class of '89). I sort of miss the small town feel. I now live in Amarillo (didn't go too far).It is nice that I actually see some people from there (because they now live here). Go to church with quite a few that left  Perryton and surrounding areas and are now living here.
I have a wonderful husband and two children (a boy 5 and a girl 2).

Good to see that there are so many people on this site.
Have contacted a few that I went to school with or worked with.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful life.

Just heard someone was looking for me and found out about this site. I am in Dallas for 2 more weeks. Just got my Ph.D. in archaeology from SMU and will be moving to DC to begin work at the Smithsonian in October. Hope everyone in Perryton is doing well. I haven't been able to get back since my grandparents passed away there, and most of my family has moved away. My uncle runs the Ellis theater however, so hopefully will visit in the next year or so.

Enjoy reading the notes from those who once lived in Perryton and the surrounding communities.
I recently moved to Keller, Tx...just outside of Ft. Worth...about to retire from UPS and I will continue to do real estate.  Future plans are big and much responsibility is required.....so I retreat back to the radio station that my Dad enjoyed...KEYE>
My son, Gabe, lives in Denver, Co.  He hopes to become a Game Warden......
My brother, Joe Don, lives here in the DFW area, Allen, Tx.  He has gone country, focusing on "TEXAS" history.  His office has many items of the history of Texas...as well as his back yard.
Good tidings to all and if we do not see each other here on this earth, may we meet again in Heaven.

Still would like to know if anyone knows were Chris & Kerry Wolff may have landed. My sisters still live in Perryton. Hello Tina and BJ! Love you both very much. dg

I have enjoyed the information and history you have on your website.  I was born in Perryton in 1961, my father at the time worked for Panhandle Eastern Oil Co, so where it moved we moved.  I have never had a chance to come back and see the place of my birth, but I am planning to.  It would be great if you could put up a photo album on your site, they don't have to be professionally done, have your residents submit photos new and old.

I had the pleasure of visiting your city for a few hours. I  was shocked. Someone needs to teach you people about the separation of church and state!   I had heard of the Bible belt before but never realized what a true threat it is to liberty.  I will never, ever set foot in the panhandle again!

I've had the opportunity to visit Perryton several times in the past 6 months.  I've lived in such "small" towns such as Los Angeles, New York and Phoenix.... So you can imagine how new an experience Perryton is for me.  I find the town enchanting and have met some very nice individuals.  It's a town with so much potential for growth, but yet keeping it's roots still firm.  I find the crime stoppers program to be very positive and I wish we did the same in our newspapers here in Arizona.  Thank you to many I've met there....
